As the title and mood indications throughout suggest, Where the River Flows is a depiction in sound of a river and its environs. Such a place is never completely silent, and the various noises to be heard are rarely ordered or metrical in their interaction. An isolated bird call, or the wind picking up strength and ruffling the surface of the water – these and other natural sounds can be held in mind as you perform the piece. Give yourself plenty of space, listen, and enjoy creating and recreating a different soundscape each time.

From the Composer

The source of inspiration for this piece is one of my favourite spots in Wellington, Otari / Wilton Bush, with its tui-song and flowing water.
