Movement I from Valley Echoes tries to evoke the feeling of spaciousness that one experiences in mountainous places. Melodies rise and fall like mist with distant echoes, which answer us like the voices of nature. The work belongs to a series of my works which are inspired by mountains. Also included in this series is The Mountain, for two pianos, and Questioning the Mountain, for violin and piano.
