This work is published in Volume 9, Film Music, Incidental Music and Occasional Pieces, of the Larry Pruden Collected Edition. Pruden's output as a film composer began in the 1960s with Legend of Birds (1962) and Rotorua Legend (1962/67). These were experiments in the medium and interesting for their engagement with Maori folklore. The music for Legend of Birds is particularly notable for the drift accompanying slow-motion footage of the Kotuku/White Heron in flight.
