Perc 2: glockenspiel, 1 suspended cymbal (med/high), bamboo chimes, wind chimes, snare drum, bass drum (shared), 4 tom-toms, tubular bells
Perc 3: vibraphone, tam-tam, 3 suspended cymbals, bass drum (shared), brake drum, waterphone, drum set (placed between the piano and contrabasses): hi-hat, snare drum, kick drum, and any additional cymbals/drums the player would like to add. Have a monitor in place for the player to hear the solo cellist
Piano: Depending on the size of the concert hall, the piano may require amplification. This is at the discretion of the soloist and conductor
Solo Cello: Soloist MUST be amplified: have one monitor/amplifier behind them so they (and the conductor) can hear themselves, and have the other monitor/amplifier (or two) in front and to the side(s) of them (directed at the audience).
IMPORTANT: the 2nd and 4th movements will need to be set at a slightly higher volume level than the 1st and 3rd movements due to the orchestra's change of volume and texture. Therefore, a soundboard and sound technician will be required. The sound technician will need to adjust the volume between movements.
Str: va & vc require one chopstick per player
