Of Threads and Labyrinths is a contemplation in music on the dissolution of a relationship and the efforts in the midst of real and imagined labyrinths to establish a line of communication. For the most part, the oboe and harp do not play simultaneously, the players instead being engaged with their own separate realities and fantasies as represented by the tape part. When they do play together, the result is not always inspired, although a point is reached where a musical consensus is sought. Ultimately, the two players resign to speaking in two different musical languages - and systems of intonation - ultimately reaching an anticlimactic conclusion.
