
Anaphora is the fourth song of Hatzis' Four Songs on Poems by Elizabeth Bishop and exists in its original form as a piece for soprano and chamber orchestra. The work appears here as an arrangement for soprano and piano. Anaphora was commissioned by Suzie LeBlanc with financial support from Suzie LeBlanc, John Barnstead and the Elizabeth Bishop Society of Nova Scotia.
Born in Greece, educated in the United States and a Canadian citizen since 1985, composer Christos Hatzis (b.1953) is becoming widely known as a leading figure in contemporary classical music.
